Last day for early bird registration for Systematikdagarna!

The deadline for early bird registration for Systematikdagarna 2018, to be held in Lund on November 26 and 27, is October 31! Remember to register and send in an abstract if you would like to give a presentation! A preliminary schedule for the meeting is given on https://systematikforeningen.se/verksamhet/systematikdagarna/systematikdagarna-2018/ where you will also find a link to the registration web page. Two plenary talks will pave the way for the rest of the conference. On Monday 26 November, Catarina Rydin (Stockholm University) will talk about the macroevolution of the mysterious Gnetales, and on Tuesday 27 November, Martin Irestedt (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet) will tell us about the power of museomics for understanding bird of paradise phylogenetics. We have several invited speakers as well, Nicolas Chazot (University of Gothenburg), Petra Korall (Uppsala University), Martin Ryberg (Uppsala University), Johannes Bergsten (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet) and Jadranka Rota (Lund University).

Säkrare webbplats och städning av användarkonton på systematikforeningen.se

Systematikforeningen.se har skaffat SSL. Det innebär att trafiken ska vara säkrare när vi loggar in på webbplatsen för att skriva inlägg eller registrera oss för Systematikdagarna (anmälan till årets möte öppnar snart!). Ifall något inte riktigt funkar på webbplatsen eller ser konstigt ut efter övergången: säg till så försöker jag fixa!

I och med EU:s nya dataskyddsregler kommer vi också rensa bort inaktuella användarkonton (till exempel sådana där mejladresserna är inaktuella så att utskicken studsar). Om du vill behålla ditt konto: logga in och kolla så att allt ser bra ut, eller passa på att uppdatera dina uppgifter när det blir dags för anmälan till Systematikdagarna (anmälan öppnar snart)! Ifall du inte kommer ihåg ditt lösenord och återställningsfunktionen inte funkar för att du inte kommer åt ditt gamla mejlkonto längre: kontakta mig så ska vi se vad jag kan göra. Samma sak om du vill få ditt konto raderat för att slippa få utskick från Systematikföreningen: logga in och kolla om du kan fixa det själv, eller kontakta webmaster!

Postdoc position in Plant Systematics at Stockholm University

We seek a postdoctoral research fellow to work on the evolution of pollen and pollination systems in extinct gymnosperms. Pollination with biotic vectors is common in flowering plants but is not unique to them. The postdoc will study the ultrastructure and aerodynamic features of fossil pollen of a selection of gymnosperms. The results will constitute the basis for estimating the pollination biology of extinct species and macro evolutionary analyses of pollination syndromes in seed plants.

A 12-month research technician position is available in Plant Systematics at the Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences, Stockholm University. Work will be split between two projects and will mainly involve NGS sequencing and building a large trait database from the literature.
