We seek a postdoctoral research fellow to work on the evolution of pollen and pollination systems in extinct gymnosperms. Pollination with biotic vectors is common in flowering plants but is not unique to them. The postdoc will study the ultrastructure and aerodynamic features of fossil pollen of a selection of gymnosperms. The results will constitute the basis for estimating the pollination biology of extinct species and macro evolutionary analyses of pollination syndromes in seed plants.
