Early Career Systematists in Sweden event, November 17th

Hi all new systematists!

We would like to invite you to participate in the Early Career Systematists in Sweden event on Sunday the 17th of November!

This event is free of charge and will take place in Gothenburg on the afternoon before Systematikdagarna (18th-19th of November). It will be a kickstart event for new systematists in Sweden, where you can network and get to know like-minded people in a relaxed environment! At this kickstart event, we will also have Dr. Jadranka Rota, curator of the Entomological Collections at Lund Biological Museum, Lund University, talking about her exciting career in systematics. Afterwards, we are planning to go for a joint dinner somewhere nearby.

The event will take place at Natrium, next to Konferenscentrum Wallenberg, the venue for Systematikdagarna (https://systematikforeningen.se/verksamhet/systematikdagarna/systematikdagarna-2024/).

The preliminary schedule for this early-career event is:

13:00    Introductions, ice-breaking activities

14:30    Fika/mingle

15:00    “A career in systematics (or how love and passion for a group of organisms can turn into a permanent position)” by Jadranka Rota, discussions

17:00    Wrap up, dinner/beer at a nearby pub

Just choose “Early career event Sunday 17th November” for 00,00 kr. If you are not attending Systematikdagarna, you can still register for the event by contacting me (emma.karrnas@biol.lu.se) or Mårten Klinth (marten@stationlinne.se) directly.

  1. Mötet öppnas
  2. Val av mötesordförande, mötessekreterare och två justeringspersoner
  3. Fråga om mötet blivit i behörig ordning utlyst
  4. Styrelsens årsberättelse inklusive ekonomisk berättelse
  5. Revisionsberättelse
  6. Fråga om ansvarsfrihet för styrelsen för föregående års förvaltning
  7. Ändring av föreningens stadgar för att inkludera en 6:e medlem i styrelsen. Denna medlem ska representera systematiker som är i början av sin karriär (andra omröstningen).
  8. Ändring av föreningens stadgar för att inkludera en 4:e medlem i valberedningen (första omröstningen).
  9. Val av ordförande för föreningen
  10. Val av övriga styrelseledamöter
  11. Val av en revisor och en revisorssuppleant
  12. Val av valberedning på tre personer
  13. Fastställande av eventuell årsavgift
  14. Ärenden, som styrelsen förelägger årsmötet

Tuesday 18 November 2024 at 16:00, Konferenscentrum Wallenberg Europa-salen, Göteborgs universitet, Medicinaregatan 20, Göteborg. The meeting will take place during Systematikdagarna 2024.

Agenda:

  1. Meeting opens
  2. Election of meeting chair, meeting secretary and two attestors
  3. Question: has the meeting been advertised according to the statutes
  4. The board’s yearly report, including financial report
  5. Auditor’s report
  6. Question about discharge of liability for the board for the previous year’s administration
  7. Changes to the associations statues to allow a 6th member of the board, representing an early career systematist (second time voting)
  8. Changes to the associations statues to allow a 4th member in the nomination committee (first time voting)
  9. Election of chairman of the association
  10. Election of other members of the board
  11. Election of one auditor and one deputy auditor
  12. Election of nomination committee consisting of 3 persons
  13. Decision on annual membership fee (if any)
  14. Other matters which the board submits to the meeting
  15. Other matters submitted to the board at least 4 weeks prior to the meeting
  16. Meeting ends

Now you can register for Systematikdagarna in Gothenburg (18–19 November 2024). Systematikdagarna is a yearly conference on systematics arranged by the Swedish Systematists Association. The meeting is open for anyone interested in systematics; amateurs, working systematists, and users of systematics in any form.

Early Career stage participants are also welcome to the half day event Early Career Systematists in Sweden event on Sunday 17 November.

Welcome to the Systematikdagarna in Lund 27-28 November 2023

Systematikdagarna is this year arranged by the Department of Biology, Lund University, in the Ecology Building, Blue Hall. You are now very welcome to register for the meeting and announce if you want to give a talk or present a poster! We have updated the information regarding keynote speakers and the workshop section. The deadline for application is 31 October.

The deadline for early bird registration for Systematikdagarna 2018, to be held in Lund on November 26 and 27, is October 31! Remember to register and send in an abstract if you would like to give a presentation! A preliminary schedule for the meeting is given on https://systematikforeningen.se/verksamhet/systematikdagarna/systematikdagarna-2018/ where you will also find a link to the registration web page. Two plenary talks will pave the way for the rest of the conference. On Monday 26 November, Catarina Rydin (Stockholm University) will talk about the macroevolution of the mysterious Gnetales, and on Tuesday 27 November, Martin Irestedt (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet) will tell us about the power of museomics for understanding bird of paradise phylogenetics. We have several invited speakers as well, Nicolas Chazot (University of Gothenburg), Petra Korall (Uppsala University), Martin Ryberg (Uppsala University), Johannes Bergsten (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet) and Jadranka Rota (Lund University).
